Olesya Krivtsova has an ankle monitor on one leg and an anti-Putin tattoo on the other leg. The Russian teenager from the Arkhangelsk region, 19, was charged with insulting the Russian army and encouraging terrorism on social media and is henceforth required to wear the gadget while under house arrest.

Krivtsova has been placed on the list of terrorists and extremists maintained by Russian authorities along with ISIS and al Qaeda. In October, she shared an Instagram story about the explosion on the Crimean Bridge. Additionally, it criticized Russia for invading Ukraine.

Krivtsova attended Northern Federal University in the Arctic. The northwest part of Arkhangelsk is where this university is situated.

Olesya Krivtsova is currently detained in her mother’s residence in Severodvinsk, Arkhangelsk region, where she is prohibited from using the internet or having any other means of contact with anyone.

Alexei Kichin, Krivotsova’s lawyer stated “Olesya’s case is not the first, nor is it the last.”

The kid might be sentenced to three years in prison for disparaging the Russian military, as well as seven years under the Article of Justification of Terrorism, according to Kichin. The defense team representing Krivtsova is seeking a less severe penalty, perhaps a fine.

According to independent human rights watchdog OVD Info, Russia received at least 61 criminal cases in 2022 for using the internet to justify terrorism. 26 people have been found guilty so far.

Olesya’s mother, Natalya Krivtsova, asserts that by practically “publicly flogging” her daughter for airing her thoughts, the government is attempting to warn the public.

“We are located in the Arkhangelsk region, which is large yet too far from the city. Since there are no longer any protests in Arkhangelsk, Natalya Krivtsova told SME, “they are attempting to suffocate whatever is left at its early stages.”

The local Communist Party leader, Alexander Novikov, publicly mocked the young woman on state television, calling her a fool who should be sent to the front lines in the Donbas region of eastern Ukraine so she could “look into the eyes” of the soldiers fighting as members of the Arkhangelsk battalion.

Olesya Krivtsova had a number of altercations with the law before this incident. She was charged with spreading anti-war propaganda and defaming the Russian Army.

When Krivtsova was accused of slandering the Russian army on social media in October, the situation only became worse. According to Krivtsova’s attorney, a crime is committed when the same rule is broken twice.

Her strong sense of justice makes life challenging for her. According to her mother’s statement to SME, failing to keep quiet has become a serious offense in the Russian Federation.

Natalya Krivtsova claims that on December 26, police barged into the apartment where her daughter and her husband Ilya were residing, forcing the children to lie face down on The police claimed this was a “hello” from the Yevgeny Prigozhin-led Wagner Group as they were allegedly threatened with a sledgehammer and placed on the ground.

SME requested opinions from the state police in Arkhangelsk.

Olesya was terrified after watching a video of a prisoner being killed with a sledgehammer, according to her mother, who spoke to SME.

Natalya Krivtsova cited the well-known footage in which Yevgeny Nazhin, a former prisoner, is killed by mercenaries from the Wagner Group who aggressively seek out inmates and destroy their attempts at escape with a sledgehammer. “The traitor received the traditional, primitive Wagnerian penalty,” the video description read.

She expressed, “The state has some odd policies: prisoners go to war, and kids go to jail.”
